Kaja van den Berg (18) from Nistelrode recently started her internship at CSE. She’s studying to become a junior account manager at KW1C and works 32 hours a week in the Customer Care team. With her father Jorg sitting right across from her.
So Kaja, why did you choose to do your internship at CSE?
“When I had to look for an internship, I immediately thought of logistics. Pretty much my whole family works in this industry. Even my mom, so I’ve always heard a lot about it at home. It seemed interesting to learn even more about it from the inside.”
What does your typical day look like?
“I’m fully involved in the Customer Care team, so I have a lot of contact with customers. For example, I register new transport orders and keep clients updated if a truck is delayed. My English is pretty good, but German is still a bit tricky. Luckily, there’s always Google Translate, haha. So far, I really like it. I enjoy learning languages and helping people.”
“It’s great that they include me in everything”
Who helps you with your work?
“Joenoes Siahaija is my main supervisor, but honestly, I can ask anyone for help. My colleagues explain things step by step and let me take on more responsibilities bit by bit. That really builds my confidence. In the coming weeks, I hope to learn more about planning. I’ll also get to visit customers and the warehouse in Weert. It’s great that they include me in everything.”
And what’s it like working with your dad?
“Really good! We sit across from each other. At first, I thought I might see him a little too much, but it’s actually fine. We often drive to work together, and of course, I can ask him lots of questions. I think he secretly enjoys it too.”
Do you see your future at CSE?
“Maybe! First I want to continue studying. I’m in the second-to-last year of my current program and I’m considering doing an HBO degree afterward. In the coming years, I definitely want to explore other industries, but logistics is still number one for me. There’s a good chance I’ll end up working in this field. We’ll see!”
