“Fanfiction helps me in my job”

Martine van Daal feels right at home in the dynamic environment of customer care at CSE. She effortlessly switches between customer inquiries about planning, deliveries and orders. And her hobby of writing fanfiction turns out to be more useful at work than you might expect. Martine explains.

Constantly Switching Gears
“Customer care is always in motion, and that suits me. Questions from customers keep coming in, all day long. I especially enjoy the pace. Quick coordination, staying sharp and making sure everything is correct, those are elements I recognize from my previous work in healthcare and at a webshop. In the end, customers need to know they can always turn to me, and that things will be taken care of.”

Developing for the Customer
“I consciously look beyond my own inbox. The entire process at CSE interests me, from order to delivery. By diving deeper into this, I immediately develop myself as a point of contact for customers. I simply want to do things right for them. If I understand how everything connects, I can think along more quickly and find solutions faster. When the day runs smoothly and without errors, that gives me a lot of satisfaction.”

“I have thousands of followers and sometimes more than 300,000 readers”

Hundreds of Thousands of Readers
“Outside of work, I write fanfiction, stories based on existing worlds, such as Harry Potter. By now, I have thousands of followers and sometimes more than 300,000 readers. What’s great is that fanfiction helps me in my work. I write everything in English, for example. It also involves structuring large amounts of information, thinking ahead and coming up with creative solutions. In customer care, I apply those same skills in real-life situations.”
